I’m Meshach Malley, a filmmaker, video producer, and editor based in Columbus, Ohio. I’ve spent the last decade making things: a feature film now streaming on Amazon and Tubi, scripted comedy series, music videos, documentaries, branded content, and work for universities, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations across Ohio.
What I do well is take a project from idea to finished product. I can write it, shoot it, direct it, and edit it, or I can step into whatever role a production needs. I’ve managed crews of 15 on multi-day shoots and worked solo out of a single room. I’ve taught film at the university level and produced content for clients who had never been in front of a camera before. The through line in all of it is storytelling and finding the best way to communicate a feeling to an audience.
I’m available for remote editing work, on-location production, branded content, YouTube and creator content, and full-service video production.
If you have something you’re trying to make, I’d love to talk about it.

The best branded video doesn’t feel like an ad. It feels like something worth watching that grabs your attention, keeps you engaged, and leaves you feeling satisfied.
That’s a harder thing to make than it sounds. It requires understanding what a brand actually stands for, not just what it sells. It requires finding the human story inside the business: the client whose life changed, the team that cares more than they have to, the problem that nobody else was solving. And it requires the filmmaking craft to tell that story in a way that holds attention from the first second to the last.
I’ve produced branded content for businesses, nonprofits, universities, and advocacy organizations across Ohio. Every project starts with a conversation about what you’re really trying to accomplish. It’s never just “we need a video” but rather what that video needs to make someone think, feel, or do. From there I handle as much of the production as you need, from concept and script through shoot and final delivery.
If you want content that represents your brand with the same care you put into the work itself, let’s talk about what that could look like.
There’s a specific kind of confidence that comes from knowing a set is in good hands. Decisions get made quickly, the crew stays focused, and the day doesn’t fall apart when something unexpected happens (and something always does).
I’ve directed and shot productions ranging from intimate two-person documentary interviews to multi-day narrative productions with crews of fifteen. I work as a director, director of photography, or both depending on what a project needs. I design lighting setups for a range of environments, operate camera, and manage the practical logistics of getting the shot while keeping the larger creative vision in focus.
For independent productions looking for an experienced hand on set, whether as a lead or in support of another director, I bring both the technical skill and the temperament the work requires.
Every good video starts with a clear idea of what it’s trying to say.
That sounds simple. It rarely is.
I help clients and collaborators develop their ideas into scripts and structured content that actually works. Whether that’s a two-minute brand video, a short film, a multi-episode series, or a social content concept. I’ve written feature films, a 22-episode scripted comedy series, documentary treatments, branded content scripts, and YouTube video concepts. I understand story structure, pacing, and how to write for the screen rather than the page.
For clients who come to me with a feeling but not yet a direction, creative development is where we start. We figure out what you’re really trying to say, who you’re saying it to, and what form best serves that goal. The script comes after that.

Most social media video looks like social media video. Shaky, rushed, forgettable — content that exists to fill a calendar rather than actually connect with anyone. That’s not what I make.
I help businesses and brands create original short-form video content that’s built for social from the start — not repurposed from something else, not thrown together the day it needs to post. I bring the same thinking I apply to film and production work: what’s the story, what does this need to make someone feel, and what’s going to make them stop scrolling long enough to actually watch it.
I’ve spent years creating and producing my own content on YouTube — writing, shooting, and editing videos that have collectively reached hundreds of thousands of viewers. That experience taught me something that’s hard to learn any other way: what actually holds attention and what doesn’t. The difference between a hook that works and one that loses someone in the first three seconds. The pacing that keeps a viewer watching. The kind of story that makes someone hit share. I bring all of that directly to the content I create for clients.
That means concepting content that fits your brand and your audience, scripting or structuring it so it earns attention fast, and producing and editing it to a standard that makes your business look like it takes itself seriously. Whether you need a single produced piece or a consistent library of content built over time, I can help you figure out what to make and then actually make it.
Social media moves fast. But the brands that stand out aren’t the ones posting the most — they’re the ones posting things worth watching. That’s the bar I work to.
Editing is where a project either comes together or falls apart. Good footage can be ruined by a bad edit. And a skilled editor can find the story in footage that seems like it has none.
I offer remote editing for businesses, brands, and independent productions that need a reliable, experienced hand in post. I work in Adobe Premiere Pro and handle everything from assembly cut through final delivery — color correction, audio cleanup, titles, and platform-optimized exports included. I communicate clearly throughout the process, flag issues early, and treat revisions as part of the work rather than an inconvenience.
I’ve edited feature films, documentary series, branded content, music videos, and YouTube content. I also create my own, which means I understand what an edit needs to do for an audience — not just technically, but emotionally. The cut that makes someone keep watching. The pace that makes a brand feel confident. The moment that makes a story land.
If you have footage that needs to become something, let’s talk.
I’ve been telling shooting movies, series, and videos for over a decade. In that time, I’ve learned that the most important part of any production happens long before you hit record. It comes from answering the question: What story am I telling?
Storytelling is the throughline of everything I do. I’ve written and directed a feature film now streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi. I’ve produced a 22-episode scripted comedy series, a documentary series, music videos, and branded content for non-profits, private companies, and universities. Whether the project is two minutes or two hours, the question is the same: what does this need to make someone feel, and what’s the most honest way to get there?
Telling these stories is supported by my technical foundation. I’m a videographer, lighting designer, and on-location audio recordist with experience on sets ranging from intimate two-person shoots to multi-day productions with crews of fifteen. I’ve edited in Adobe Premiere Pro for over ten years, with working knowledge of After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and the broader Adobe Creative Cloud. I’ve served as director, director of photography, producer, editor, and 1st Assistant Director (often on the same project). That range isn’t accidental. I understand how every decision in production affects each other, without loosing sight of the whole picture.
But the work I’m most proud of isn’t just the films or the campaigns: it’s the relationships. I’ve spent years working directly with clients who came to me with a feeling, a problem, or a half-formed idea and needed a creative partner to help them figure out what they were really trying to build. I’ve worked as an embedded creative collaborator for organizations that needed someone to own their visual storytelling from the inside: developing content strategy, shaping brand voice on screen, and producing work that compounds over time rather than just filling a calendar.
That’s the kind of work I do best. Not just executing a brief, but helping you figure out what the brief should be.
If you’re looking for a filmmaker to bring a specific project to life, I can do that. If you’re looking for a creative director, someone to think alongside you about your content, your brand, and where both are headed, I can do that too. Either way, the work starts with a conversation.
I’d love to chat.
